Upgrade from Lasershow Designer 2000
If you purchased LD2000 on or after April 6, 2011, congratulations! Please contact us
to get your free upgrade to Beyond. The rest of this page is for
customers
who purchased LD2000 before April 6, 2011.
If you purchased LD2000 before April 6, 2011, here’s
how you can move up to the next-generation Beyond. We have a special, limited-time offer:
For each LD2000
system you have, you can upgrade to Beyond for half price. Your new Beyond upgrade system will work with
your existing LD2000
hardware (QM2000 board). You can switch between
your old LD2000 software and your new Beyond software
-- whichever you prefer. That way, you can still update and play your existing LD2000 shows,
while you also explore all of Beyond’s
new features.
The
half-price upgrade offer is good for each LD2000 system you own, and is based on your purchase price (e.g., whatever
you paid -- retail or dealer pricing).
The offer is good through November 30, 2011.
Pricing examples
Normal Beyond pricing (no upgrade)
There are
three levels of Beyond, just as there are three levels of Lasershow Designer. We have been able to keep
the new Beyond prices the same as the older LD2000 prices.
Here are the retail prices:
Beyond Essentials, $1495
Beyond Advanced, $2495
Beyond Ultimate, $4995
Special half-price upgrade offer (through
Nov. 30)
If you already
own LD2000, you can get Beyond for half the price you paid. Here’s an example using retail pricing:
If
you purchased LD2000 Intro at $1495, you can upgrade to Beyond Essentials for $745 (half
the normal price of $1495).
If
you purchased LD2000 Basic at $2495, you can upgrade to Beyond Advanced for $1245 (half
the normal price of $2495).
If
you purchased LD2000 Pro at $4995, you can upgrade to Beyond Ultimate for $2495 (half the
normal price of $4995).
Upgrading to a
higher version
It is also possible to upgrade from one level to a higher level. You pay for the half-price
upgrade from your level of LD2000 to the same level of Beyond,
and then the
cost difference between the levels. Here are examples:
If you purchased LD2000 Intro at $1495, you can upgrade to
Beyond Essentials for $745, to Beyond Advanced for $1745 (745 upgrade
+ 1000 difference),
or
to Beyond Ultimate for $4245 (745 upgrade + 3500 difference).
If you purchased LD2000 Basic at $2495, you can upgrade to
Beyond Advanced for $1245 or to Beyond Ultimate for $3745 (1245 upgrade
+ 2500 difference)

Lasershow Designer 2000 is by far the world's best-selling and most-used system for creating and displaying laser shows. It is simple
enough that first-time users can play shows "out of the box" within minutes. Yet, it has an incredible amount of
depth -- just about anything you want to do with laser graphics and beams, you can do with LD 2000. Plus, while playing the
laser show, the LD2000 software suite can also control other types of media, such as audio, video, DMX-controlled moving lights
and pyro.
This page gives you a good overview of all the products within the LD2000 family. Click

Although IMU is most popular for
video applications, the laser output is still available for projects such as writing SMS messages at a trade show
or on the side of a mountain.
Hardware for playing back shows
An LD2000 system can be used to create and playback shows. However,
many users only need playback capability. These hardware devices can be put near or in a laser projector. Unskilled
operators can easily play shows in this way.

QM2000.NET
laser controller: Need to control many projectors at once? Or
want to run Lasershow Designer 2000 software on your notebook? The QM2000.NET box includes a QM2000 playback board and an
interface to standard computer networks.
You can place
laser projectors far away from a central LD2000 controller, and send signals down the network to QM2000.NET boxes. Some clients
have remotely controlled over a dozen remote projectors in this way.
You can also create
and play back LD2000 shows using notebook computers (since they don’t have slots for the QM2000 board, but they do have
network connectors).
Advanced programming,
and custom projects
Lasershow Designer
2000 software has been in continuous development since 1986. There are a lot of specialized routines we have created, to control
laser beams and graphics. This highly optimized code is at the heart of all Pangolin laser programs.
QM2000.NET laser controller
$ 799
The LD2000 Software Development Kit (SDK) gives you access to laser-specific routines. This lets you create your own custom application.
Some example uses include industrial laser systems for alignment, scientific
systems for 3D visualization using vector graphics, and even gaming. (At SIGGRAPH 2007, Pangolin software was used
to project laser versions of classic vector videogames such as Asteroids, Battlezone and Tempest.)
Wide-angle scanning solutions for projectors

ACCESSORIES
512MB
memory for the QM2000: $250
Currently-shipping versions of LD2000 come standard with 256MB of memory.
Shows that make heavy use of raster frames or computer graphic animations may require more memory. 256MB
is good for most users creating typical laser shows. If your whole show is done with Raster
frames, 3D Studio MAX, Macromedia FLASH or Cinema 4D, you might require 512MB or more. (Note: To use 512MB,
your board needs to be manufactured after December 20, 2002, or it will need to be updated
by Pangolin to handle the larger memory). Click here for more information.) Memory prices are in constant fluctuation. Our charges reflect
the cost we paid, plus a small amount for overhead and stocking. The price as of January
2010 for 512MB is $250. We are sorry, but we cannot accept trade-ins on old memory. For technical information,
see the page Memory on the QM2000.
